Ever wondered what your accountants could do for you?
Well, a few months ago our very own Mike Toone proved that our skills and expertise go above and beyond those of your average accountancy firm. In July Mike delivered his own baby… yes you did hear that right, the pressure of the already fast approaching tax deadline has not affected your judgement… he did in fact deliver his daughter Emilia.
The birth was the talk of the office as Mike described so casually how he “caught her” and we realised we had a midwife amongst our staff, taking office first aid qualifications to an entirely new level! The emotional moment of Emilia’s birth was likely more dramatic than us average humans can imagine and will make for a remarkable story for Mike to tell at her 18th birthday!
Although the bravery and calmness of Mike must be acknowledged, the real hero here is absolutely Mike’s wife Jen who went through an incredibly quick 45-minute labor in her own home and possible a record breaking birth time! Young Emilia arrived just a short six minutes after a call was made to 999, causing quite the stir in the Toone household. However, this was not enough to disturb Mike and Jen’s eldest, Ethan, who was very busy watching Fireman Sam and eating biscuits!
Since her birth, Emilia has been strong and healthy, and continues to bring joy to her family’s life. Her big brother Ethan has settled very well into his new role, and steps in to help Jen when Mike goes out to work- what a star!
Although this experience might not quite be enough to encourage Mike into a career in midwifery, he did suggest a “need to add midwife to my job description”.
Maybe now you should be asking what we can’t do!
Congratulations to a beautiful family on the speedy birth of your little girl.
