On Tuesday 5th March our manager, Mike Toone, attended the Sage Roadshow to discuss Making Tax Digital. Mike was invited to sit alongside Chris Downing, director of product management at Sage, and Verna Gellvear from HMRC, on a panel which offered advice and guidance to over 200 bookkeepers and accountants on Making Tax Digital for VAT.
For just over an hour, Mike and the rest of the panel addressed a wide variety of questions and concerns. Some of the main topics of discussion included the process of registering a practice for their agent service account, signing up clients, and ensuring they can use software compatible with Making Tax Digital for VAT. Mike also spent time with Julia Wedgewood, product manager at Sage and Umar Alvi who is our regional account manager.
Late last year, Mike submitted the first ever Sage cloud Making Tax Digital VAT return and has since continued to work hard to ensure we are as prepared as we can be by the 1st April 2019. It was therefore an honour for Mike to be asked to speak at the Sage Roadshow and appropriate validation of his work towards Making Tax Digital. As a firm, we are continuing to ensure our clients are and will be compliant in time.
There are now exactly three weeks until the Making Tax Digital regulations come in. We not only work with Sage but several software providers, including but not limited to, QuickBooks Online and Xero and can assist in deciding what is best for your business.
If you have any questions regarding registration or ensuring you’re compliant, please do give us a call and we would be more than happy to help.
